The transfer portal is open for less than a week, and Michigan football is starting to take full advantage as much as it possibly can.
Though the Wolverines have lost some players of late, including defensive backs Tevis and TJ Metcalf, the maize and blue have been gaining momentum with others — whether it's the three additions on Sunday or getting safety Jordan Young to withdraw from the portal after being in for nearly a week.
On Monday, Michigan added two more players via the portal, one on each side of the ball.
The first came within the Big Ten, via Nebraska, in a second-year player who has four years of eligibility. With the Wolverines having lost center of the future Kaden Strayhorn to Alabama, they needed someone who could step in, in case Jake Guarnera has any missed time. Enter 2025 class Honolulu (Hawaii) St. Louis (the same high school as former Michigan WR Roman Wilson) interior offensive lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres, who committed to the maize and blue on Monday.

Kaahaaina-Torres was a three-star prospect, rated No. 636 overall according to the 247Sports Composite.
On the other side of the ball, a familiar name to both new defensive coordinator Jay Hill and extant running backs coach Tony Alford is making his way to Ann Arbor. BYU linebacker Max Alford already spent a year working with Hill and the Cougars after transferring in from Utah State. The Salt Lake City native is the nephew of Tony Alford, and he will spend his upcoming season with his uncle's team, it was announced.

Alford appeared in 10 games for the Cougars last season, and had 21 tackles, with two for loss, one sack, and one quarterback hurry.
The Wolverines are still looking to add more linebacker talent, with Cal LB Cade Uluave being the primary target now that Rasheem Biles committed to Texas. Additionally, the maize and blue are looking at defensive linemen and defensive backs.
