Georgia Bulldogs transfer cornerback Joenel Aguero has found a new college football home. He announced his transfer commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels, according to Hayes Fawcett of On3. Aguero will head to the team that beat Georgia in the Sugar Bowl and knocked the Bulldogs out of the College Football Playoff in 2025.

Aguero was a dependable starter for UGA. Aguero became a starter in 2024 as the team’s star corner, and he held the starting position for the first 14 games of the season. Through three seasons with the Bulldogs, Aguero racked up 72 total tackles, three pass deflections, and an interception. In his career, teams averaged just an 87.4 passer rating when targeting him (according to PFF, premium subscription needed).

Unfortunately, Aguero missed the SEC championship and the Sugar Bowl due to a hand injury, and with Rasean Dinkins performing admirably in his place, Aguero entered the transfer portal.

He now joins an Ole Miss team that has been very active in the transfer portal, especially in the secondary. The Rebels have earned commitments from Florida State safety Edwin Joseph and Florida cornerback Sharif Denson. Despite a loss to the Miami Hurricanes in the College Football Playoff semifinal, the Rebels are loading up with more talent.

Georgia has lost five defensive backs to the portal: Aguero, Daniel Harris, Jaden Harris (committed to Kansas), Ondre Evans (N.C. State), and Adrian Maddox. They’ve done well to replace the group, landing Eastern Carolina safety Ja’Marley Riddle, USC cornerback Brayden Conley, and Clemson safety Khalil Barnes.
