For Notre Dame football, this transfer portal season has been more about the quality over the quantity of incoming players.
The Irish took over a week for them to land their first commitment, and they came in bunches, as four players committed on Monday morning. Two of them, defensive lineman Keon Keeley and wide receiver Quincy Porter, were former 5-star recruits.
When you add in cornerbacks DJ McKinney and Jayden Sanders, the group of four has the top average of stars rankings in all of college football according to 247Sports Team Transfer Rankings. While I don’t think that Notre Dame ends up in this position, it’s a fantastic “start” after many were in a bit of angst awaiting the first commit.
It shouldn’t surprise many that this is currently happening though, as the Irish have recently had some great recruiting classes, and some very good portal classes. There have been some hits, misses and solid additions, but the quartet that Notre Dame got on Monday should set them up for a few more big time additions.
Notre Dame officially has 4 commitments out of the transfer portal. That ranks them at 16th. Insane to be ranked that high with only 4 commitments.
Quality over quantity 🍀🍀🍀
