The Oklahoma Sooners have seen a lot of exits and entrances in the transfer portal, but with the window closing on Friday night, there’s still time for a few surprises and changes in the wild west world of college football. On Tuesday, OU saw a former player find his new home in the portal, and it’s on a team in the same conference.

Former Oklahoma offensive lineman Troy Everett has committed to play for the Ole Miss Rebels out of the transfer portal. Everett spent three years in Norman, after arriving as a transfer from Appalachian State. He was a redshirt senior in 2025, but because he suffered a season-ending injury in OU’s first game of the year, he’ll have one more year of eligibility left when he gets to Oxford.

Everett was a captain and a veteran leader for the Sooners, and is capable of playing multiple positions in the interior offensive line. However, his most consistent role in Norman came at the center position, where started the final seven games of the 2024 season, and was the Week 1 starter before his injury in 2025. He’ll bring the Rebs and new head coach Pete Golding a versatile veteran voice up front in the trenches, and he’ll join a team that is fresh off of a run to the semifinal round of the College Football Playoff.

Everett will see his former team on the field in 2026, as Ole Miss visits Oklahoma on November 14th. The Sooners have already added for offensive linemen in the portal so far in Western Kentucky transfer Caleb Nitta, Arkansas transfer E’Marion Harris, Central Oklahoma transfer Kenneth Wermy, and Georgia Tech transfer Peyton Joseph.
