MANHATTAN — An offensive line transfer flew under the radar, announcing his commitment to Kansas State football via Instagram on Jan. 14.

San Diego State offensive lineman Chase Duarte committed to the Wildcats, following new K-State offensive line coach Mike Schmidt, who was San Diego State’s offensive line coach last season.

Duarte played in six games as a true freshman. He has three years of eligibility and his redshirt remaining.

Duarte is listed as a 6-foot-5, 305-pound guard. He played his high school ball at Clayton Valley Charter in Concord, California. He was a three-star prospect, ranked as the No. 169 offensive tackle in the 2025 class.

Duarte played 52 snaps for the Aztecs this past season, with 44 being in run-block situations and eight as a pass blocker. None of his listed snaps by Pro Football Focus were taken on special teams.

Kansas State has been busy addressing its offensive line during this transfer portal cycle. They’ve also added Tanner Morley (Colorado State), Delvin Morris (Akron), Charlie Adams III (Cal Poly) and Keiton Jones (Missouri).

Duarte projects as a depth piece for the Wildcats, who could develop into a starter. Schmidt’s familiarity with him should speak volumes, but Duarte should be seen as a redshirt candidate in 2026. Perhaps he could surprise as he jumps to another level of football as a younger prospect.
