We are continuing to get news trickling in on what some of the Ohio State football players’ plans are who are eligible to declare early for the NFL draft. One of those players is All-American linebacker Sonny Styles, whose career is one that took a little while to blossom, but once it did, left an undeniable impact on the program.
On Wednesday, Styles announced the decision that was really foregone because, as a four-year starter, Styles had already exhausted his eligibility. Nonetheless, Styles let everyone know that he’ll be a part of one of the greatest spectacles in sports in April, where he has a very good chance of becoming one of many OSU first-round NFL draft selections this offseason.
As a Block-O recipient this past season and captain, Styles joins a very short list of players who have left their mark on and off the field in Columbus. This past season, he tallied 82 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, including one sack. According to Pro Football Focus, he did not miss a single tackle throughout the entire season heading into the matchup with Miami in the College Football Playoff quarterfinal Cotton Bowl.
A local product of Pickerington Central High School, son of former OSU All-American linebacker Lorenzo Styles, and brother of teammate Lorenzo Styles Jr., the youngest Styles was an immediate difference maker for Ohio State, starting his career as a safety after reclassifying to be a part of the 2022 recruiting class. He was moved to linebacker before his junior season, and that’s when his skill set was utilized the fullest, which is what will make him so attractive to NFL scouts and executives.

As quiet and solid as he was on the field, there’s no doubt Styles will be making a lot of noise in an NFL uniform in the very near future, and Buckeye Nation wishes him nothing but the best.
