Fourth Georgia OL enters the transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs have lost quite a few pieces of offensive line depth to the transfer portal this offseason. The latest Georgia lineman to enter the portal is redshirt sophomore Jamal Meriweather.

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound offensive lineman made 12 appearances for Georgia in 2025. Meriweather played as a reserve offensive lineman and on special teams. The talented lineman is a former four-star recruit from Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Georgia.

Meriweather is a fourth Georgia offensive lineman to enter the portal this offseason. He joins Bo Hughley (Colorado), Kelton Smith (previously medically retired; transferred to Georgia State) and Nyier Daniels (dismissed after arrest) in entering the transfer portal this winter.

Meriweather’s departure represents another blow to Georgia’s offensive line depth. The Bulldogs are losing starting offensive guard Micah Morris and starting offensive tackle Monroe Freeling to the 2026 NFL draft.

Meriweather originally signed with Georgia as a member of the class of 2023. Just six members of the class of 2023 will reach their fourth season at UGA this year (assuming no more portal or draft departures).

Georgia is expected to return standout freshmen Dontrell Glover and Juan Gaston for next season along with center Drew Bobo and tackle Earnest Greene. Other returning offensive linemen include Jahzare Jackson, Marcus Harrison, Cortez Smith, Malachi Toliver, Daniel Calhoun and Michael Uini. One potential freshman that could start is incoming four-star Okene Ogboko.
