After losing a competition with Dante Moore for the starting quarterback job with the Oregon Ducks throughout 2025 spring practices and fall camp, Austin Novosad has now committed to Bowling Green after announcing his intentions to enter the transfer portal in late December. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the news.
Oddly enough, when Moore got injured against Wisconsin, it was walk-on Brock Thomas who stepped in and finished the game. Thomas served as the backup for the majority of the season, passing up the former four-star Novosad.
Committing to Oregon in the 2023 recruiting class, the 6-foot-3, 200-pound passer was the No. 13 ranked quarterback and No. 157 player overall, per 247 Sports. As a transfer, he was rated as a three-star and the No. 41 quarterback and No. 619 player overall.

During his three-year Oregon tenure, Novosad completed 12 of 15 passes for 99 yards with no touchdowns or interceptions. He threw just two passes in 2025, completing a 40-yarder against the Montana State Bobcats in the season-opener.
Now, he’ll join a Falcons quarterback room that totaled 13 touchdowns versus 12 interceptions, with no player throwing more than five touchdowns and three players throwing more than 40 passes. Bowling Green finished 4-8 overall and 2-6 in the MAC in 2025.
Novosad will have two years of eligibility remaining.
