Baylor transfer offensive lineman Sean Thompkins has flipped his commitment from North Carolina to LSU football, per On3 Sports. Thompkins committed to the Tar Heels soon after the portal opened, but a visit to Baton Rouge on Thursday led to a late change of heart.
Thompkins appeared in 10 games in 2025, including the Bears’ final five games at left tackle. He has two more seasons of eligibility.
Thompkins originally signed with Baylor as a three-star prospect, ranked No. 50 among interior offensive linemen in the 2023 recruiting class by 247Sports. He ranks 23rd among offensive tackles in the portal.
Thompkins struggled when thrust into the starting role, earning the 116th-ranked PFF offensive grade (55.4) among Power Four tackles from Weeks 9-14. His poor run-blocking grade during that stretch was a major factor in that poor rating, while his pass-blocking grade (73.4) was actually well above average. He allowed four pressures and one sack in his starts.

Thompkins was the third FBS offensive line transfer that LSU has added in this portal cycle, joining former Tennessee center William Satterwhite and former Kentucky tackle Darrin Strey.
The Tigers could still use more bites at the apple on the offensive line before the portal closes. Several are reportedly visiting LSU on Friday, so there’s a chance Thompkins won’t be the final signee.
