BATON ROUGE – Aliou Bah knows plenty about the Southeastern Conference. He started his collegiate career at Georgia.

But he’s played the last two seasons at Maryland. And now he’ll likely finish out his career back in the SEC but this time at LSU football. The 6-6, 327-pound OL committed to Lane Kiffin and the Tigers Friday afternoon, he announced via his social media pages.

During a day where Kiffin’s transfer portal haul was centered around the offensive line, Bah provides a big lift for a unit the new LSU coaching staff is still trying to iron out.

In more than 1,500 career snaps, Bah has allowed one sack.

Why Aliou Bah picked LSU football out of transfer portal

Bah was on campus Thursday for a visit and it appears his time with LSU, Kiffin and his staff was enough for him to want to come play for the Tigers. The once prized offensive line product out of high school gave it a try at Georgia but found him looking for a new home a couple of years.

This move for Bah may be as much about giving himself another chance in the SEC than almost anything else.

How Aliou Bah will fit LSU football’s roster

The level of experience Bah brings to this newly rebuilt offensive line room gives the big guys a huge leg-up on the competition for a starting position along LSU’s OL.

Bah has started 23 straight games at Maryland and his skill set has been refined over the years. Kiffin and company expect to get a starter out of Bah from the transfer portal.

LSU football transfer targets

When does transfer portal close?

The NCAA transfer portal window closes Jan. 16. Players cannot enter their name in the portal following that date, but those whose name is already in the transfer portal can still decide and sign with a new school after Jan. 16.
