Texas A&M’s 2027 recruiting class is on pace to finish with the No. 1-ranked if the momentum heading into the next two junior day weekends holds up, as the Aggies are reportedly trending for several five-star prospects, while the top-ranked defensive lineman, Jalen Brewster, remains firmly committed to Texas Tech, but is receiving plenty of attention from the Aggie coaching staff.
After landing and eventually signing 2026 five-star cornerback Brandon Arrington, who could vye for a key rotation spot during his freshman season, head coach Mike Elko has already proven his ability to land the best players in every recruiting cycle, and still has his eyes on flipping Brewster, who is considered a future NFL first round pick due to his size and pass rush ability in the interior.
Born in Indiana, Hoosiers head coach Curt Cignetti has built the once-doormat Big Ten program into a powerhouse and will face Miami in the National Title Game next Monday night. Cignetti and his staff have reportedly gained some ground with Brewster, who plans to visit Bloomington soon.
However, Texas A&M is reportedly in a good position to secure a visit as well, as Rivals insider Greg Biggins released his one-on-one with Jalen Brewster about the Aggies’ interest.
“A&M is still recruiting me hard and I hear from a lot of those coaches,” Brewster stated. “Coach Elko is involved and I’m also hearing from coach Mann, coach Lynch and all of the defensive coaches. That’s another school I’m considering for an official visit.”
Getting Brewster on campus is the first step towards a potential flip, and with new defensive line coach Elijah Robinson already making an impact in the transfer portal, he, along with Mann and Lynch, will be the primary recruiters to get the Cedar Hill standout for another visit this summer and again during one of Texas A&M’s 2026 home games.
According to Rivals, Jalen Brewster is the 6th-ranked prospect in the 2027 class, the No. 1-ranked defensive lineman, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.
