Last month, two USC players were named first team All-Americans: wide receiver Makai Lemon and safety Bishop Fitzgerald. But what about freshman All-Americans?
On Wednesday, the Football Writers Association of America released its 2025 freshman All-American team. Included on the list was USC defensive lineman Jahkeem Stewart.
As a true freshman this past season, Stewart recorded 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks. He also had an interception against Iowa, a rare feat for a defensive lineman.
Perhaps the most impressive part is that Stewart played the entire regular season with a stress fracture in his foot. He underwent surgery for it following the UCLA game, causing him to miss the Alamo Bowl against TCU.
The Trojans are hoping that Stewart will be fully healthy in time for the start of next season. If so, he should be a big part of USC’s defensive plans in 2026—regardless of who the defensive coordinator winds up being.
