Duke football transfer portal: Additions, losses after window closes

The college football NCAA transfer portal window has officially closed.
While players can’t enter the portal after the Jan. 16 deadline, they can commit anytime and have up until Feb. 2 to take official visits. The portal was open for two weeks from Jan. 2–Jan. 16.
At least 16 Duke football players entered the portal, most notably quarterback Darian Mensah, who entered the portal on its final day despite announcing his return to Duke on Dec. 19. Mensah has not announced his landing spot, but it is highly suspected he will transfer to Miami, as the Canes have been on the market for a quarterback. It was reported they offered Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson $6.5 million before he entered his name into the 2026 NFL Draft.
Among the other Blue Devils to enter the portal are safety Terry Moore, who has since committed to Ohio State. Backup quarterback Henry Belin IV also entered the portal, and since committed to Missouri State, further depleting the Blue Devils’ quarterback room to three scholarship players: North Alabama transfer Ari Patu, redshirt freshman Dan Mahan and incoming freshman Terry Walker III
As on Jan. 17, Duke has brought in 15 transfer portal additions, with that number likely to grow. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz and Chris Hummer reported Duke as a potential landing spot for Florida transfer quarterback DJ Lagway, who has yet to officially sign with Baylor.
