Michigan State football made a sneaky important addition via the transfer portal on Saturday night.
Kickoff return specialist Kenneth Williams has reportedly committed to Michigan State on Saturday, according to Corey Robinson of 247Sports. Williams starred for Nebraska last season and will come to Michigan State as a potential game-changer in special teams for the Spartans.
Williams played two seasons at Nebraska, appearing in all 12 games this past season. While with the Cornhuskers, Williams became one of the most explosive and dangerous return specialists in the Big Ten, averaging 32.9 yards per return and one touchdown this past season. He was a second-team All-Big Ten selection this past season as a return specialist.
Williams is from Detroit, and should have three years of eligibility remaining. He also is listed as a running back and wide receiver, so he could play a role on the Spartans' offense going forward should the opportunity present itself. At a minimum, though, he is going to have an instant impact in the Spartans' return game next year and improve an area that has been lacking in recent seasons.
Detroit native and one of the Big Ten’s top return specialists is headed home.
