Where did Notre Dame land in On3’s way-too-early top-25 for 2026

The college football 2025 season officially comes to an end later this evening, and its hard to no dream about what Notre Dame will be in the fall.

On3 took a stab at what the 2026 top-25 will look like, and for the Irish, they’re near the top of the rankings. Notre Dame was No. 4, behind just Ohio State, Georgia and Texas. Indiana rounds out the top-five, as Miami is No. 9, BYU No. 13, and USC is No. 19.

The Irish will take on the Hurricanes again next fall, so that game on Nov. 7th will be a big one, as will the contest against the Cougars, but no date for the game has been set at this moment.

I think this is a fair ranking for Notre Dame, but you could make an argument that they should be a bit higher. The Irish return tons of talent from a team that went 10-2, and was snubbed from the College Football Playoff. The Longhorns would be the team that I’d flip with Notre Dame, as they just haven’t been as consistent as you’d like to see, but still are a very talented team.

Regardless, Notre Dame should enter the season as one of the top teams nationally, with a very good shot at winning its first CFP title.
