Headlined by his Heisman Trophy win, Fernado Mendoza has led Indiana football to many firsts this season.
Now, before he heads off to the NFL, the Miami native looks to lead the Hoosiers to one last first: a national championship.
The top-seeded Hoosiers are set to kick off at 7:30 p.m. ET on Monday, Jan. 19 in the College Football Playoff national championship game against No. 10 Miami inside Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.
Mendoza has been playing some of his best football since he won the Heisman Trophy on Saturday, Dec. 13. In two CFP games against Alabama and Oregon, the Miami native has thrown only five incomplete passes as he is a combined 31-for-36 in passing attempts.
He has thrown eight touchdown passes to four different receivers — Elijah Sarratt, Omar Cooper Jr., E.J. Williams Jr. and Charlie Becker — on top of 369 yards with no interceptions.
That all said, here’s a deeper look into Mendoza’s stats this season for the Hoosiers:
