Former Georgia All-American named as Peach State high school DC

Former Georgia Bulldogs legend Greg Blue has found his next career move. Blue, a former hard-hitting UGA safety, has been announced as the new defensive coordinator for Dalton High School in Dalton, Georgia. Blue will serve under Dalton head coach Chris Prewett.

Dalton competes in the 5A classification and has not won a state championship since 1967. Dalton went 3-8 during the 2025 high school football season, per MaxPreps. Blue will look to turn around the Dalton defense, which struggled last season.

Blue was an All-American in 2005 with Georgia. He played at Georgia from 2001-2005 during the Mark Richt era. Blue won a pair of SEC championships (2002 and 2005) with Georgia and was a team captain in 2005. The Minnesota Vikings drafted Blue as a fifth-round pick in the 2006 NFL draft.

Blue was a fan-favorite during his time in Athens. He delivered some massive hits over the years, which aren't even legal in today's college football.

Blue is a native of Atlanta and has been coaching college football since his NFL career ended in 2008.
