Iowa football ends season with strong finish in final AP Top 25 Poll

The Big Ten holds yet another national title, making it the third time in three years it has taken home the College Football Playoff National Championship. Michigan, Ohio State, and now Indiana have shaken up the college football world and sent a resounding message as to where the powers of college football lie and what the best conference is.

One team lurking in that conference, who played the national championship, the Indiana Hoosiers, closer than anyone all season, is the Iowa Hawkeyes. Playing Indiana tight, Iowa had a chance to take the lead with a field goal late, before losing 20-15 in one of the Hoosiers' largest scares of the season.

While being on the cusp of beating good teams is only so good, the polls are liking Iowa in the final renditions of the rankings. In the final AP Top 25 College Football Poll of the season, the Iowa Hawkeyes are sitting at No. 17 in the nation with a 9-4 record.

The committee has Iowa two spots behind No. 15 Vanderbilt, which the Hawkeyes beat 34-27 in the ReliaQest Bowl. Throughout the rest of the Big Ten, Indiana sits at No. 1 with perfrect 16-0 record, while Oregon comes in at No. 4, Ohio State is No. 5, USC is No. 20, and Michigan is No. 21.
