At 6-3, though, winning the ACC Championship is the only way it’s getting into the CFP.
Boston College is simply looking for a win over an FBS team. It wasn’t bad in last week’s loss to Notre Dame, and it’s been competitive, but with Georgia Tech and at Syracuse to close, getting a second win – it opened up by rocking Fordham – won’t be easy.

Boston College can’t stop turning the ball over.
The passing game is fine, the running game is bad, but overall, the offense isn’t so awful that the team should be 1-8.
The problem overall is on the lines. The pass protection is non-existent, and there’s no pass rush, but again, the team should be about 4-5ish.
The problem? Turnovers. There have been six in the last two games, two or more in six of the last seven, and SMU is a takeaway machine. However …

The Mustangs aren’t above giving it up.
The Eagles need to do even more to create their own breaks and then capitalize on them. They forced seven turnovers over the last four games, and they should get at least two in this.
Also, the BC passing game has to rock. SMU lost the two times it allowed more than 320 passing yards, the Eagles can get there if they get hot right away, and …

Boston College will throw for close to 300 yards, and the defense will come up with an inspired first half, but the O will have its own turnover problems, and the pace of the SMU attack will bust through in the second half.
It won’t be a wipeout, but it’ll be yet another Eagle game when it has its chances and can’t get the job done.
