The final tally for the US LBM Coaches Poll is in, following the Indiana Hoosiers' triumph over the Miami Hurricanes to earn their first-ever college football national championship.
It was a long and grueling season on the collegiate gridiron — and seemingly even longer postseason — but in the end, Curt Cignetti carried the Nick Saban torch forward with a perfect 16-0 finish. The 'Canes fell short of their first ring since 2001.
The Southeastern Conference finished with seven ranked teams, headlined by the Ole Miss Rebels at No. 3. The Georgia Bulldogs (No. 5), Texas A&M Aggies (No. 8), Alabama Crimson Tide (No. 9) and Oklahoma Sooners (No. 10) join them among the top 10.
The Texas Longhorns check in at No. 13 in the final tally, followed by the 15th-ranked Vanderbilt Commodores to wrap up the SEC schools in the top 25. The Tennessee Volunteers dropped from the rankings but still held onto 22 votes, while the Missouri Tigers finished with three of their own.
The Florida Gators, who finished 4-8 and did not play in the postseason, were predictably left unmentioned.
