Notre Dame 2026 schedule update: When the Irish will play at BYU

We all saw the news that Notre Dame football had added BYU to its 2026 schedule, but what we didn’t know was when the game will be played.

On Wednesday morning, it was announced when the Irish will travel to Provo, Utah and take on the Cougars on Sat., Oct. 17th. The start time has yet to be released, but you have to believe that if both teams are ranked inside the top-25 when the game is played, it will be a prime-time night contest.

While it still stings not to have USC on the schedule, Notre Dame made a wise move in adding BYU to replace the Trojans. It’s another marquee matchup for the Irish that should help their cause to make the College Football Playoff. With three potential ranked teams on the docket for the 2026 season, there should be more than enough data points to push Notre Dame into the field of 12-teams with at least 10 wins.

Expect a start time to be announced as the game gets closer, but we now know what day Notre Dame will travel to take on BYU.
