OXFORD — One of the final pieces of Ole Miss football coach Pete Golding’s new staff was on the other sideline in the Fiesta Bowl.

Ole Miss is hiring Miami tight ends coach Cody Woodiel for the same position for the Rebels per a report from CBS Sports. The report said Woodiel will also be the co-offensive coordinator with the Rebels.

Woodiel is a Mississippi native. He is from Hernando and played tight end and offensive line for Troy from 2011-12. Woodiel started coaching at Miami in 2023. He coached at Oregon from 2017-20.

Woodiel coached tight end Elijah Arroyo at Miami in 2024. Arroyo had 590 receiving yards and seven touchdowns and was a second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.

Tight ends coach was one of the final pieces Golding was missing on his 2026 Ole Miss coaching staff. With Woodiel carrying a co-offensive coordinator title, he’ll be working with incoming Ole Miss offensive coordinator John David Baker.
