Ohio State coach Ryan Day ranked his Buckeyes No. 5 on his final ballot for the US LBM Coaches Poll.
It was one spot higher than the Buckeyes’ actual ranking in the poll that was released on Jan. 20 following the College Football Playoff.
Day put the Buckeyes ahead of Georgia, which rounded out the top-five in the final ranking. The Bulldogs also lost in the quarterfinals to end their season.
The rest of Day’s top-five mirrored the final coaches poll with national champion Indiana at No. 1, followed by Miami at No. 2, Mississippi at No. 3 and Oregon at No. 4.
Day returned as one of the 62 participating coaches in the poll in 2023. He had also voted in 2019 in his first year as the Buckeyes’ coach. Their final ballots were made public this week by USA TODAY Sports, which sponsors the poll in a partnership with the American Football Coaches Association and US LBM.
