Michigan football is making some final additions to its 2026 squad.
Ernest Nunley, a three-star defensive back previously committed to California, has flipped to Michigan, he posted on social media on Tuesday, Jan. 20, before he officially signed with the Wolverines on Wednesday.
Nunley is a 6-foot, 180-pound defensive back from Anaheim, California (Western High School). He was recently released from his letter-of-intent to Cal last week, and was in Ann Arbor visiting the team Monday.
Nunley is an upside play for new coach Kyle Whittingham and his staff. Nunley is rated a three-star prospect in the 247Sports’ composite rankings, which sees him as the No. 101 player in California, No. 108 cornerback in the country and No. 1,277 player in the incoming freshman class.
Nunley will work his way into a remade secondary under assistant coach Jernaro Gilford, which has seen the departures of Elijah Dotson (Missouri), TJ Metcalf (Tennessee), Jaden Mangham (Purdue), Brandyn Hillman (Virginia), Jayden Sanders (Notre Dame) − but now brought in Christopher Bracy (Memphis), Smith Snowden (Utah) and Salesi Moa (Utah).
