Ever since Colorado offensive tackle Jordan Seaton chose to enter the transfer portal, he has been a hot topic of conversation. Talented offensive linemen are always going to be valued heavily, especially those with the size, experience, and upside that Seaton possesses. There is a reason why the 6-5, 330-pound blindside protector was once considered a five-star player by some in the 2024 recruiting class.
When Seaton entered, Miami became the big contender to know, especially with head coach Mario Cristobal losing both starting tackles, Francis Mauigoa and Markel Bell, to the 2026 NFL Draft this offseason. Seaton would, in theory at least, fit right into the vacated left tackle spot. Money has never been an issue for Miami on the portal trail, and that would be true for the talented offensive lineman.
Then the LSU Tigers and head coach Lane Kiffin entered the conversation. The Tiger staff is completely overhauling the offensive line room from a year ago, so adding talented players to that room is vital. Seaton made the trip down to Baton Rouge this week, and by all reports, things have been trending in a great direction. That was, however, until Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks made a bit of a move of desperation.
According to Pete Nakos of On3, Lanning made the trip down to Atlanta on Tuesday night to see Seaton. Here is what Nakos wrote about that trip, and where things currently stand with the former Colorado standout and his recruitment.
Colorado OL Jordan Seaton
The buzz throughout Tuesday was that LSU held the momentum to land the Colorado offensive tackle. But Oregon head coach Dan Lanning and offensive line coach A’lique Terry tracked Seaton down in Atlanta on Tuesday night for an in-home visit. Miami continues to push hard to land Seaton and is a factor.
It is uncertain if Oregon can finish the deal with Seaton, but it was ironic to see them use a similar tactic that Kiffin just used. For those who didn’t follow the recruitment of former Arizona State quarterback signal caller Sam Leavitt, Kiffin flew down to Knoxville to intercept him before he left his Tennessee visit to check out Miami. In that instant, Kiffin was able to win out. It will be interesting to see if Lanning can flip things in their favor after his attempt.
Jordan Seaton’s career background
Seaton was originally a member of the 2024 recruiting class for head coach Deion Sanders and Colorado. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Seaton ended up ranked as the No. 17 overall player, the No. 1 offensive tackle, and the No. 4 player from the state of Florida in the class. He was another example of a talented IMG Academy player that schools from all over the country pursued.
Some of Seaton’s top offers coming out included Colorado, Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Tennessee, Florida, Miami, Michigan, Oregon, Oklahoma, Ole Miss, Penn State, USC, Texas A&M, Auburn, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, and Boston College, among many others. Seaton became a two-year starter for the Buffaloes at left tackle. That experience, combined with his talent, although inconsistent, is making him a valuable commodity once again.
