It was yet another season to forget for Florida football fans, with the Gators succumbing to their fourth sub-.500 finish in five years at 4-8, which triggered a complete reset after missing out on a bowl game this winter.

With the national championship finally decided, The Athletic's Chris Vannini released his publication's final ranking for all 136 FBS schools. In it, Florida is ranked No. 67 in the country, putting the Gators at No. 14 out of 16 Southeastern Conference programs, and one spot ahead of their in-state rivals, the Florida State Seminoles.

The campaign began with high hopes as UF was ranked 15th in the preseason tally, but things quickly devolved into panic after losing at home in Week 2 to the South Florida Bulls. The Orange and Blue reached its performance peak in Week 6 with a win over the Texas Longhorns in the Swamp, but the damage had been done and Billy Napier was dismissed from his head coaching job after a Week 8 victory over the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Florida would lose the next four straight games before finishing with a victory over FSU — who also fell hard this fall — ending a season of pain for the Gator Nation.
