It has already been an eventful offseason for the Georgia Bulldogs. After losing to the Ole Miss Rebels in the Sugar Bowl, head coach Kirby Smart and his staff have turned a majority of their attention to improving the roster.
High school recruiting continues to be a valuable asset for the Bulldogs. Georgia has already landed five commitments in the 2027 cycle, ranking No. 4 in the SEC and No. 9 in the nation.
Another big addition may soon be coming. In an article from On3’s Chad Simmons, he noted Georgia is leading the charge for running back Kemon Spell.
“The biggest development coming out of the weekend involved five-star running back Kemon Spell,” Simmons wrote. “The former Penn State commit has Georgia sitting at the top of his list. Spell is also planning a return visit to Athens later this month, with Miami, Notre Dame, and Penn State heavily involved as well. This recruitment remains fluid, but the Bulldogs are in the lead battling the Nittany Lions.”
Spell, a former Penn State Nittany Lions commit, backed out following the firing of head coach James Franklin. Spell stands as one of the most sought-after players available. He’s a five-star recruit, the No. 1 running back and the No. 3 player in the nation, according to On3.
He earned second-team honors on the MaxPreps Junior All-American Team. The 5-foot-10, 205-pound running back rushed for 1,755 yards and 28 touchdowns. He also had three special teams touchdowns.
Along with his one visit with Georgia, he has visited the Notre Dame Fighting Irish (one), Ohio State Buckeyes (one), UCLA Bruins (one), Miami Hurricanes (one) and Penn State (12).
If Spell chooses the Bulldogs, it would be the team’s second running back commit in 2027, joining three-star Noah Parker.
