Ohio State football vs. Purdue Buckeyes Wire staff predictions

Nobody likes a good prediction more than we do here at Buckeyes Wire, and we especially like them when it involves the Ohio State football team, which just so happens to be administering super wedgies against all the competition so far this season.

Each week, we get into that act as well and ask all of our staff members to provide a prediction for that week's matchup with Ohio State, and this time around, that involves a road trip to West Lafayette to take on the Purdue Boilermakers, who have yet to win a Big Ten game this season.

So what do Phil, Mark, Yesh, and Griffin think will happen on Saturday, and why? Here is what each writer predicts as the final score and a brief reason for why when the Buckeyes take on the Boilermakers on Saturday.

Ohio State vs. Purdue prediction according to Phil Harrison

Yeah, we've been surprised before, especially on the road in West Lafayette, but this one should be no contest. Purdue has won just one Big Ten game in the last two years, and doesn't have the firepower to move the ball on Ohio State's defense, nor will it be able to slow down the passing attack of the Buckeyes either on that side of the ball. The Buckeyes roll as the Boilermakers get a touchdown on their first drive, then only a field goal the rest of the way.

Score Prediction: Ohio State 42, Purdue 10

Ohio State vs. Purdue prediction according to Mark Russell

The prediction? In the words of Clubber Lang from Rocky III … "Pain." Ohio State is as focused as a defending champion has ever been. It's been the mantra all season long that last year was great, but this is an entirely different team that hasn't proven anything yet. Yes, chaos can happen on any given Saturday, but it isn't going to happen this week. Ohio State rolls to an easy victory.

Ohio State vs. Purdue prediction according to Yesh Ginsburg

This Ohio State team is just on a different level than we've seen in the past. Purdue likes to hang tough, but the Boilermakers are out of their league. This won't be pretty and will be over by halftime.

Score Prediction: Ohio State 56, Purdue 7

Ohio State vs. Purdue prediction according to Griffin Dreifeldt

Ohio State makes the ground game a focal point against the Boilermakers, and defensively are incredibly stout like usual, as Ryan Day and the Buckeyes get another win on Saturday on the road.

Score Prediction: Ohio State 35, Purdue 10
