Auburn football brings in ULM transfer quarterback Hunter Herring to play the tight end position for the Tigers in 2026, per 247Sports.
The redshirt senior quarterback will join a tight end room that lost pieces due to the transfer portal, including Hollis Davidson and Preston Howard. Multi-year contributor Brandon Frazier also left the program due to exhausted eligibility. Auburn has brought in three other tight end transfers in Jonathan Echols (USF), Jake Johnson (North Carolina), and Xavier Newsom (Howard) to join Herring in the rebuilt room.
While playing quarterback at ULM in 2025, Herring threw for 111 yards and rushed for 57 yards. In the Warhawks’ loss to Troy on Oct. 8, he completed 3-of-4 passes for 50 yards and a score. He also played other offensive positions such as wide receiver and tight end, and even played snaps on special teams. Herring is billed at 6-5, 230 pounds.
The Tigers are sitting at 37 incoming transfers, matching the number of outgoing transfers. Auburn continues to build out its roster throughout the portal.
