As the Texas Longhorns look to win a national title, they have also been busy building for the future. On Wednesday, they received an update on one of their top targets, four-star IMG Academy quarterback Jayden Wade. The talented QB set his commitment date for Nov. 16 and cut his list down to seven teams, including the Longhorns. For Steve Sarkisian and his staff, the focus will be on making Wade an offer he can't refuse.

Although a commitment from Wade would give the Longhorns' 2028 class a major boost, they do face competition. That list includes Michigan, Georgia, Washington, Florida, and Oregon. While there are still a lot of programs in the mix, it comes as no surprise, given how he is viewed by scouts.

Currently, the Florida native is ranked as the top player in his class by 247Sports. Wade has only one year of high school under his belt, but he was a human highlight reel. In eight games, the IGM Academy star completed 19 of his 28 passes for 362 yards. He also added six passing touchdowns and 217 rushing yards to his resume.

When it comes to quarterbacks, the Longhorns have a good track record. Their recent success stories include Quinn Ewers and Arch Manning. Next year, they will welcome five-star recruit Dia Bell to campus for what should be a memorable college career. Texas hopes to add Wade to that list.

Over the next few weeks, Texas will be a program to watch. Few players can make an impact like Wade can, which is why he is at the top of the Longhorns' wishlist. For a program that is always trying to add elite talent, Wade would be a huge addition and make the future in Austin even brighter.
