Ohio State football adds kicker to the 2026 recruiting class

Just when we thought Ohio State football’s recruiting class was more-or-less done for the 2026 cycle, the Buckeyes added a kicker to the class with North Carolina native Cooper Peterson.

Peterson was a senior at Corvian Community School last season in the Charlotte area. It remains to be seen how much he’ll be a part of the roster and competition when he steps on campus, but clearly the coaching staff believes that it needs more options at the position, especially with Jayden Fielding running out of eligibility and Jackson Courville transferring to Tulane. Currently, the only kicker on the roster for OSU is incoming Baylor transfer Connor Hawkins.

Not only did Peterson handle the placekicking duties for his high school, but he also punted. It will be interesting to see how the unranked 247Sports prospect fits into the equation for OSU. As we all know, trying to evaluate the position is extremely difficult.

We’ll continue to stay on top of all of the offseason moves for Ohio State. There really is no offseason any longer, just an absence of games.
