Michigan State football 2026 schedule to be released this week

The official Michigan State football schedule for the 2026 season will be released this week.

The Spartans official conference slate will be released by the Big Ten on Tuesday evening. The league will host a live schedule release show on the Big Ten Network on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET.

At this time, we know the three opponents and dates for the Spartans non-conference slate this upcoming season. Michigan State will open the season against Toledo on September 5 (but that could be moved up to September 4 if the Spartans continue their season-opener Friday night trend). After that, the Spartans will host Eastern Michigan on September 12 before traveling to rival Notre Dame on September 19.

As far as the Big Ten schedule goes, we know the nine teams that Michigan State is tentatively expected to play this year but the dates are not finalized. That's what will be released on Tuesday.

Michigan State will play Illinois, Nebraska, Northwestern, Oregon and Washington at home this season. The Spartans will play Michigan, Rutgers, UCLA and Wisconsin on the road.

It'll be interesting to see how the conference slate comes together, and potential impact it could have on the 2026 Spartans. Following the release of the schedule on Tuesday, we'll have some initial thoughts and takeaways so be sure to return to Spartans Wire for more analysis.
