Everyone knew it was in his future after his one season with the LSU Tigers completely reinvigorated their wide receiver room and passing game, but former Tigers assistant coach Joe Brady has now become an NFL head coach.
After the shocking decision to move on from Sean McDermott this offseason, the Bills have now named Brady as his replacement. He has been with the team since 2022 and has now worked his way up from quarterbacks coach to the top.
The Florida native spent just one year with the Tigers, but will forever be remembered in Baton Rouge as a legend. Many credited him and his offseason work with Joe Burrow, Ja'Marr Chase, Justin Jefferson and Terrace Marshall Jr. as a real sparkplug for the 2019 season.
He was the passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach. To many, though, it was his offense. His role seemingly got inflated by many on the outside, but he still deserved a lot of credit and earned the Broyles Award.
It didn't take long for him to get scooped up, like much of that 2019 team, as he was named the Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator a year later. That was a disappointing two-year stint before he started with the Bills, and the rest is history.
When LSU moved on from Brian Kelly at head coach, many wanted the school to bring back Brady in hopes of recapturing some of that 2019 magic. The truth is, though, it felt like the coach was always destined for the NFL. He reportedly didn't like recruiting, which is obviously a major part of the college game.
It worked out in the end, though, as the Tigers landed Lane Kiffin and Brady became a head coach at the next level.
