The Texas Longhorns enter the 2026 college football season facing the possible exit of junior quarterback Arch Manning on his way to the NFL in 2027, and thus having the best chance to make a run at the national championship while the signal caller remains in Austin.
After years of reshuffling the wide receiver room, the Longhorns could finally have a true outside duo capable of splitting coverages and creating openings for each other.
That pairing includes junior Ryan Wingo and incoming transfer-portal addition Cam Coleman from the Auburn Tigers, the latter of whom has drawn so much attention nationally.
Coleman committed to Texas after two seasons with the Tigers, where he produced despite inconsistent quarterback play and constant offensive turnover.
On3’s Clark Brooks placed Coleman No. 10 overall and the No. 3 wide receiver in his “Way-too-early Top 100 college football players for the 2026 season,” citing both his production and untapped upside.
“Cam Coleman has been maligned by below-average quarterback play as an underclassman,” Brooks wrote. “Despite that, he beat the national average in yards per target and ‘created eight’ receptions for himself, going above and beyond.”
Coleman finished the 2025 season with 56 receptions for 708 yards and five touchdowns, bringing his two-year Auburn total to 93 catches for 1,306 yards and 13 scores.
Brooks also noted that more than 35 percent of Coleman’s targets were classified as “toss-ups,” the highest rate among SEC receivers with at least 50 targets, making his life hard in Auburn.

The environment should change for Coleman’s good in Austin. Coleman will receive passes from Manning, and half the eyes of opposing secondaries will need to lock on fellow wideout Wingo, who is coming off a 54-reception, 834-yard, seven-touchdown season himself.
A former five-star recruit ranked as the No. 5 overall player in the nation on the 247Sports Composite ranks, Coleman brings size, catch radius, and contested-catch ability to Texas.
Coleman recorded 13 contested catches in 2025 alone, per Pro Football Focus, and arrives in Austin with an NIL valuation of approximately $2.9 million, the second-highest among all college wide receivers.
