It’s been a good week for former LSU football assistants in the NFL coaching carousel. Earlier this week, former LSU offensive coordinator Joe Brady was promoted to head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Former LSU defensive coordinator Daronte Jones landed his first NFL coordinating gig, being named the Washington Commanders’ DC.

And on Wednesday, Todd Monken reportedly became the next head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Monken, most recently the Ravens’ offensive coordinator, was LSU’s passing game coordinator and wide receivers coach from 2005-06. He began working for Les Miles at Oklahoma State and followed Miles to LSU when Miles became the head coach in Baton Rouge.

Monken left LSU in 2007 for a role on the Jacksonville Jaguars staff, but he would eventually return to the college ranks.

Monken was eventually the head coach at Southern Miss and was the OC for Kirby Smart’s Georgia teams as the Dawgs won back-to-back national titles.
