Well, that was something.

The rapper Toosii made a big to-do out of the idea that he was going to come play college football at Syracuse University.

Never mind that the 25-year old Nau'Jour Grainger had never been a contributor to his high school football team and was 5-foot-8, maybe.

He made a whole announcement. It was written about by all sorts of sports media, including here. It seemed like a publicity grab more than anything, but in the modern world of college football, nobody thought it was that weird.

Well, it took less than two months to unravel.

Now, Toosii says he no longer will be playing football for the Orange.

He posted on TikTok this week, complaining that Syracuse head coach Fran Brown said he'd "allow him to be a walk-on but I don't know if we can do that anymore because we've got more talent coming in."

Toosii wanted to tell his side.

"No coach, that ain't what happened," he said in his TikTok video. "I told you I wasn't coming there no more, and you feel like you wanted to break the news first before I told people what school I was going to. (Brown) is a bozo for that."

He also pushed back on the walk-on narrative.

"That was never the conversation," Toosii said. "The conversation was, 'Y'all paying for my school.' That's what it was. If you lie, I've got receipts."

At this point, it doesn't seem like much of a loss for the Orange.

Toosii did imply in his video that he may actually be choosing to go to a different program now, so maybe stay tuned for that? Or not, you're probably not missing much.
