A familiar name from the Jimbo Fisher era is headed back to the SEC — and to a program Texas A&M fans know all too well. According to a report from CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz, former Texas A&M Director of Player Personnel Kevin Mashack is expected to join the Texas Longhorns as their Director of Scouting for the 2026 season.

Mashack parted ways with the Aggies after the 2023 season and returned to his alma mater, Tennessee State, for a third stint, serving as the Tigers’ Director of Football Recruiting.

His ties to TSU run deep. He previously worked there from 2007 to 2013 and again from 2015 to 2021 as a coach, building a reputation as a steady presence in player relations. During the three‑year gap between his TSU stints, he spent time in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ personnel department, gaining NFL scouting experience.

His first on‑campus recruiting leadership role came in 2021, when he was hired as the Director of Player Personnel and High School Relations at Indiana. After one season in Bloomington, Mashack joined Jimbo Fisher’s staff in 2022 as part of Texas A&M’s personnel operation.

Now, after rebuilding his résumé at Tennessee State, he’s set to return to the SEC — this time on the other side of the rivalry.
