Last month, USC signed the No. 1 recruiting class in the country for the 2026 cycle. With the spring semester now under way, those recruits are now moved in, enrolled in classes, and working out with the team.
One of the highlights of the class was defensive lineman Luke Wafle. Originally ranked as a four-star prospect, Wafle has been moving up recruiting boards of late, especially following his MVP performance at the All-American Bowl earlier this month.
This week, Rivals released its final overall player rankings for the class of 2026. Not only did they move Wafle up, but they now have him as the No. 1 overall recruit in the class.
Interestingly, 247Sports is not nearly as high on Wafle as Rivals is. They still have him ranked as a four-star and the No. 70 overall player in the country.
This marks the fourth time in the modern recruiting rankings era (dating back to the late 1990s/early 2000s) that USC has signed the top overall recruit in the country. The previous three were Joe McKnight in 2007, Matt Barkley in 2009, and Korey Foreman in 2021.
Those three players had varying levels of success with the Trojans. With Wafle now on campus at USC, he will look to write his own legacy and establish himself as the next great defensive lineman to come through the program.
