The Florida State Seminoles‘ 2027 recruiting class took a major step forward Friday with a key in-state addition to its defensive front.
Following a 5-7 losing season in 2025 after going 2-10 two years ago, the Seminoles are reloading for the 2026 college football season under head coach Mike Norvell.
Florida State put together a lowly ranked, 26th-best transfer-portal class this offseason, but they finished the 2026 recruiting cycle with a strong 14th-best class, per 247Sports, including 12 four-star commitments.
On Friday, the Seminoles kept building for the future as FSU landed Largo (Fla.) Indian Rocks Christian EDGE Anthony Cavallaro, who announced his commitment on X.
“I am proud to announce that I am 1000% committed to The Florida State University š¢š¢š¢ GO NOLESSS!!!” Cavallaro wrote. “Thank you to all of my coaches and family for supporting me through this whole process!”
Cavallaro’s addition marks the third blue-chip commit in the cycle for coach Norvell after the Seminoles landed two other four-star recruits ā safety Mekhi Williams and linebacker Gregory Batson ā through 2025.
Cavallaro had long been on FSUās radar, receiving an offer during a November visit for the game against Virginia Tech. He returned for Junior Day on Jan. 17, an experience that helped tip the scales toward Tallahassee.
āIt was a great time,ā Cavallaro told Rivalsā Steve Wiltfong. āGetting to talk to Coach Nick and Coach McRae it just felt so natural like iāve known them forever. They were so welcoming to me and my family. The whole staff looked pumped to be there which made me even more excited to be there for the day.ā

Cavallaro is ranked No. 248 nationally and the No. 24 EDGE in the 247Sports Composite ranks. Heās also the No. 27 player in Florida.
During his junior high school season, Cavallaro posted 60 tackles, 25 tackles for loss, 12.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries and 26 quarterback hurries.
Cavallaro chose Florida State over offers from Miami, Louisville, Michigan State, Syracuse, Pitt, Kansas, SMU and USF, and his commitment gives the Seminoles five total commits in the 2027 class in what now ranks as the 10th-best class across the nation.
