CR North names former CR South coach Vince Bedesem head football coach

Vince Bedesem, who had a long run as the first head football coach at Council Rock South, has taken over the football program at Council Rock North.
“We wanted someone that knows the community and is a Council Rock guy,” CR North athletic director Joe Spera said.
“Vince works in our school district and is in our building a lot and that is always something that is a positive because the kids get to know him better and he gets to know the kids.”
Bedesem, a 1984 graduate of Council Rock where he was a standout football player and wrestler, started the program at Council Rock South when it opened in 2002 and he led it until 2021.
He replaces Brandon Garrett, who was the head coach at Council Rock North for two seasons, but had just a 1-19 record.
“Vince was at Council Rock South for a long time, did a really good job there and has a big-time football background,” Spera said.
“We’re really happy to have him as our head football coach and I know he’s excited to get things started.”
During his tenure at Council Rock South, Bedesem’s teams won three Suburban One League National Conference titles and qualified for the PIAA District One tournament five times.
Bedesem is taking over a Council Rock North program that hasn’t had a winning full season since 2015 (the Indians went 2-2 during the shortened 2020 COVID season).
Over the last five years, Council Rock North has gone 10-40 and was 0-10 in 2025.
“Vince knows that he’s taking over a struggling program and he’s more than ready for that challenge,” Spera said.
“The weightlifting program has already started and our numbers are up and those are really positive things.”
