The ACC had just one team in the projected 12-team College Football Playoff field when the initial rankings were unveiled on Tuesday, Nov. 4

The conference did little to build its case for more than one team to make the CFP in 2025-26, with two of its top teams dropping falling in Week 11 of the college football season.

No. 11 Virginia (No. 14 in CFP) dropped a 16-0 stunner to Wake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 8, a game in which starting quarterback Chandler Morris was knocked from the game with a big hit. Elsewhere, No. 15 Louisville (No. 15 CFP) fell at home to California 20-26 in overtime. Those results made it increasingly likely that the Cavaliers and Cardinals’ only entry to the playoff field may be by way of the ACC championship.

Elsewhere, No. 18 Miami (No. 18 CFP) broke through for a win after dropping two of its prior games in its last three contests. They defeated Syracuse 38-10 to remain alive in the ACC championship race.

Then there was Clemson (4-5, 3-3 in ACC play), whose Week 11 game vs. similarly maligned Florida State (4-5, 1-5 ACC) was more about maintaining bowl eligibility than challenging for the CFP. Dabo Swinney and the Tigers did just that, knocking off the Seminoles 24-10 and maintaining hope for a bowl game. The Tigers must win two of their three remaining games vs. Louisville, Furman and South Carolina to win a bowl.

Here’s a look at how the Week 11 games impacted the US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 rankings for Week 12:
