The Texas Tech football program under Joey McGuire is known to never cease its roster building.

The Red Raiders are likely to make another addition even on the nearly obsolete February national signing day.

On Feb. 3, the traditional first Wednesday in February signing date, Texas Tech is expected to add Reed Price, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound deep snapper from Gilbert (Ariz.) Highland. That’s the same high school that produced former Red Raiders punter Austin McNamara.

Price announced in mid-December that he would be signing with the Red Raiders in February. He thanked Tech special teams coordinator Kenny Perry. He also thanked Gilbert Highland specialists coach Brian McNamara, Austin’s father, for connecting him with the Red Raiders.

Adding Price would put the Red Raiders’ roster at 107 players, counting three December signees who are scheduled to report after the spring semester. According to recruiting services, Price also had offers from San Diego State and Northern Arizona.

Tech returns its top two deep snappers from the 2025 season: Rylan Vagana, who’ll be a sophomore, and Jason Llewellyn, who’ll be a senior.

The Red Raiders signed 21 high-school recruits in December — 20 on signing day and, nine days later, former Michigan tight end signee Matt Ludwig. Of those, 18 enrolled and joined the team in January. The three still at their high schools and scheduled to arrive after the spring are edge defenders Demarcus Marks and LaDamion Guyton and linebacker Kaegan Ash.
