Whittingham made another big move Tuesday as he announced the team’s four spring captains along with the Wolverines’ new leadership council, a collection of players designated by the coach himself.

Underwood led Michigan to a 9-4 record as a freshman and is expected to reprise his role as the team’s starting quarterback with new offensive coordinator Jason Beck and new quarterbacks coach Koy Detmer Jr. at his side.

Pierce is expected to be a leader on the interior of the defensive line.

Moore was recently given the go-ahead from the NCAA to return next season and Marshall is expected to the be the undisputed starter at his position after Justice Haynes transferred to Georgia Tech.
