The Auburn Tigers finally found their offense on Saturday in their 45-38 overtime loss to Vanderbilt.

The Tigers gained 563 total yards and played their best game of the season offensively. Quarterback Ashton Daniels played a fantastic game completing 31-of-44 passes for 353 yards and two touchdowns. He also rushed for 89 yards with two more scores. He just could not make the final throw at the end to force a second overtime.

The game was a flipped script for Auburn with the defense struggling most of the game. Vanderbilt put up 544 yards and Diego Pavia once again had his way with the Auburn defense. The Vanderbilt quarterback threw for 377 yards and rushed for 112. He accounted for four of the Vanderbilt touchdowns. Prior to Saturday’s game, Auburn had not given up more than 24 points in any game this season.

The Tigers offense was not just Daniels though. Cam Coleman showed his full skill set on Saturday catching 10 passes for 143 yards and a touchdown. Offensive coordinator Derrick Nix looked to get Eric Singleton involved early and he had a big game as well. Singleton caught 11 passes for 102 yards and a score. Jeremiah Cobb led the rushing attack with 115 yards. He is now 211 yards away from reaching 1,000 yards.

It was the first time Auburn had a 300-yard passer, 100-yard rusher, and a 100-yard receiver in a game since the 2004 SEC Championship Game. They defeated Tennessee 38-28 that game with Jason Campbell, Carnell Williams, and Courtney Taylor having big games. Auburn just needed the defense to make a few more plays to pull off the upset on Saturday.

It really does show what this team could have been this season with the skill position players Auburn has on offense. It has to have Auburn fans wondering what could have been if Nix was the sole play caller the entire season without interference.
