Oregon Ducks tight end Kenyon Sadiq was outstanding in 2025, as he led the FBS in touchdown catches by a tight end (eight) while leading the team in catches (51) and finishing second on the team in receiving yards (560). He was a finalist for the Mackey Award, given to the best tight end in college football.
But it wasn’t Sadiq who was the Ducks‘ highest-graded tight end, according to PFF College. Instead, it was Jamari Johnson, who started alongside Sadiq.
Johnson, who transferred to Oregon from Louisville ahead of last season, got off to a slow start, catching just nine passes for 133 yards in the first seven games of the season.
But due to a nagging injury to Sadiq that caused him to miss a game against Iowa, Johnson emerged as one of quarterback Dante Moore‘s most trusted targets in the middle of the field. Against the Hawkeyes, Johnson led the team with four catches for 36 yards, beginning a strong finish to the season.

By the end of the year, Johnson had led the team in receiving in three games, equaling the same number that Sadiq led the Ducks in receiving. Johnson also finished with 510 receiving yards, just 50 less than Sadiq.
In the College Football Playoff, the former Cardinal had three of his best games of the season, leading off with a one-handed 41-yard touchdown grab to kick off the scoring for Oregon in the first round. He then totaled eight catches for 149 yards and a touchdown during the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds, leading Oregon in receiving in both games.
The strong finish to the year likely had something to do with Johnson’s grade of 78.0 according to PFF College, and gives much hope that he’ll continue his dominance into 2026, where he’ll be TE1 and once again one of Moore’s top targets.
