Week 11 of the college football season provided some answers to the College Football Playoff picture, while creating a few uncertainties in the 12-team field (courtesy of a few upsets in the Atlantic Coast Conference).
Both No. 11 Virginia (No. 14 in CFP) and No. 15 Louisville (No. 15 CFP) unexpectedly lost at home against Wake Forest and California, respectively. As the ACC continues to cannibalize itself, it’s becoming increasingly likely that the conference will be a one-bid league.
Elsewhere, Omar Cooper Jr. helped No. 2 Indiana (No. 2 CFP) avoid a colossal upset on the road at Penn State with a highlight-reel, top-tapping catch in the back of the end zone with 36 seconds remaining to beat the Nittany Lions 27-24. With the win, the Hoosiers have now won at least 10 games under Curt Cignetti in back-to-back seasons.
Each of the remaining top five teams of last week’s US LBM Coaches Poll and CFP top 25 won their games in Week 11: No. 1 Ohio State beat Purdue 34-10, No. 3 Texas A&M defeated Missouri 38-17, No. 4 Alabama beat LSU 20-9 win and No. 5 Georgia beat Mississippi State 41-21.
Here’s a look at how the Week 11 showings around college football were reflected in the Week 11 US LBM Coaches Poll and AP Top 25 poll:
