LSU football unranked in US LBM Coaches Poll after Alabama loss

As expected, LSU football was unranked in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll. LSU received one vote last week, but after a 20-9 loss to Alabama, LSU was absent from every ballot.
It's a hard fall for an LSU squad that was once ranked in the top five. That feels like a decade ago now. Hype built around LSU in the preseason and only grew after LSU beat Clemson in Week 1. Once a playoff hopeful, it all came crashing down for LSU in conference play.
LSU's offense continued to regress and after LSU fell to 5-3 in late October, head coach Brian Kelly was fired. Frank Wilson stepped in as interim head coach, but LSU generated much of the same results vs. Alabama. The defense played well, but poor redzone offense and offensive penalties killed LSU's chance at pulling the upset. LSU is 5-4 on the year and 2-4 in conference play.
Next up for LSU is a home game vs. Arkansas.
