It’s become routine, but Jeremiah Smith keeps finding new ways to impress.
The sophomore wideout delivered a career-high 10 catches for 137 yards and a touchdown as No. 1 Ohio State stayed unbeaten, rolling past Purdue 34-10 to improve to 9-0.
“It feels good,” Smith said. “Just another day in the office, I can say. But it’s all about us staying consistent. That’s all that matters.”
Quarterback Julian Sayin was sharp again, completing 27 of 33 passes for 303 yards and a touchdown, spreading the ball to eight different receivers. With fellow wideout Carnell Tate sidelined for precautionary reasons, Smith said the group never wavered.

“This receiver room is stacked on all cylinders,” Smith said. “We got guys all around us that can play. Carnell went down, which is sad for us, but we got Mylan Graham, we got Bryson Rodgers, all those guys made plays today. I’m very excited for them.”
The chemistry between Smith and Sayin looked effortless, and Smith didn’t hesitate when asked who deserves the Heisman.
“Man, that’s Julian’s trophy right there,” he said. “The Heisman goes to Julian Sayin. The best player in the country. Best player in the country.”
Smith has now scored 25 touchdowns in 25 career games, a stat he brushed aside. “It’s football at the end of the day,” he said. “I just want to go out, play my game, and be myself.”

He credited his coaches for keeping the standard high. “I’m very hard on myself every week,” he said. “Coach Hartline’s very hard on me too. It’s all about staying consistent, that’s all that matters right now.”
And when Sayin drops one deep? Smith grinned. “It’s very pretty. You just got to see it for yourself, every ball he throws is on time and perfect.”
