LSU football is in the mix for one of the most dynamic recruits in the class of 2027. Honor Fa’alave-Johnson, a five-star safety, has narrowed his recruitment down to six schools: USC, Miami, Oregon, Texas, Notre Dame, and last but not least, LSU.
The San Diego native is the No. 1 safety and the No. 16 recruit in the country, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings. LSU was a late entrant in his recruitment, but the Tigers’ lack of punctuality clearly didn’t hurt their standing with the top recruit, as evidenced by their appearance in his top 6.

LSU, and secondary coach Corey Raymond in particular, have done an excellent job of developing NFL-level talent in the secondary over the years, which should be a big help in drawing the California native across the country.
Fa’alave-Johnson was a genuine two-way threat during his junior season, though he may not have the frame to play running back at the next level (listed at 6-1, 190). In 2025, he recorded 150 carries for 1,532 yards and 23 touchdowns, and added 35 receptions for 564 yards and seven touchdowns. On defense, he recorded 40 tackles, three interceptions and a forced fumble.
Rivals’ predictions currently lean heavily toward Fa’alave-Johnson staying in his home state and signing with USC, but LSU has the opportunity to make a strong impression on the top recruit in April, when Fa’alave-Johnson will take a visit to Baton Rouge.
