ESPN's "College GameDay" will originate from an unfamiliar location in Week 12 to showcase a top-25 battle.
The network revealed Sunday that Week 12's show will broadcast live from Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the No. 23 Pittsburgh Panthers will host the No. 9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in what will be the 73rd playing of the rivalry. It will be the sixth time that the show will have originated from Pittsburgh, and the first since 2022 when the Panthers hosted West Virginia for the renewal of "The Backyard Brawl."
The Panthers enter this week's US LBM Coaches Poll at No. 23 after winning their fifth-straight game in Week 11, downing Stanford, 35-20. Pittsburgh is in a five-way tie for the top spot in the ACC with Georgia Tech, Virginia, SMU, and Duke joining Pittsburgh with one loss in conference play. The Fighting Irish have won seven games in a row after starting the season at 0-2, with their losses to No. 16 Miami and No. 3 Texas A&M totaling four points. Notre Dame most recently downed Navy, 49-10.
"College GameDay" chose Saturday's rivalry game between Notre Dame and Pittsburgh over several key matchups, such as No. 11 Oklahoma at No. 4 Alabama, No. 10 Texas at No. 6 Georgia, and the "Battle of the Ravine" between Ouachita Baptist University and Henderson State University. The show will air Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. CT on ESPN.
